I am fascinated by the historical evolution of artistic patterning and design.
Many patterns are derived from nature. This one is based on an image of a fossil fragment of a glyptodont, a prehistoric armadillo-like animal the size of a Volkswagen.
I morphed a tracing of the photograph of the fossil into a Penrose-type tile pattern suitable for pieced quilting. Bead embellishment honors the earth strata where the
fossil was found in Mexico.

Cotton prints, batiks, artist dyed fabrics, decorative metallic and rayon threads, glass and metal beads. Hand pieced, machine quilted, hand beaded.
