Giselle y Tellosa
III: Lady of the Lake
1998
29"h x 23"w
$920USD
From a small sketch/collage
Tellosa made while in Seattle in 1997.
This figure has a mystical, tribal look, so I chose a fabric
printed with pictographs for the figure's body, and a moody,
watery overall color scheme.
I used reverse applique couched
with decorative braid on the figure, and heavily texturized fabrics
and handmade cords at the bottom. Echo quilting and strategically
placed large beads emphasize the rising figure. Fabrics are commercial
cotton prints and Bali batiks. Threads are rayon and metallic,
and novelty yarns.
